Job summary

OCBC Group in Singapore is hiring an API & Middleware Engineer to lead design, development, and maintenance of enterprise APIs and microservices. You will work across on‑prem and AWS, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into scalable API solutions.

You will guide secure API governance, drive payments domain knowledge, and ensure high availability with robust observability and incident response practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of hands‑on software engineering with enterprise applications & integrations.
• 5+ years in payments domain ensuring end‑to‑end payment life cycles.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of enterprise APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and WSO2 across on‑prem and AWS.
• Provide technical leadership and drive engineering excellence and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Architects to translate requirements into scalable, secure API solutions.
• Govern API lifecycle, security practices (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS), versioning, and governance.
• Lead payment services development including initiation, validation, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Ensure highly available, fault‑tolerant, and performant services meeting regulatory requirements.
• Oversee integration initiatives using API, middleware, messaging, Kafka/IBM MQ.
• Champion observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Conduct reviews and artifacts (architecture, specs, runbooks) to maintain code quality and security.
