Job summary

MAXHUNT RESOURCE PTE. LTD. seeks a counsellor to support Ngee Ann Secondary School students with social, emotional and behavioural development. The role involves direct student engagement, risk assessment and intervention planning within a 34-hour work week during the school terms.

Duties include home visits, collaboration with school staff and external agencies, maintaining confidential records, and producing weekly case summaries while upholding professional ethics and safeguarding practices.

Qualifications

• At least a diploma in counselling or psychology, or equivalent.
• Experience counselling or working with school-aged teenagers in a secondary school.
• Ability to engage students through digital platforms while upholding ethics and confidentiality.
• Strong skills in relationship-building, communication, emotional regulation, and conflict management.

Responsibilities

• Engage students requiring intervention, build rapport and use counselling techniques.
• Identify underlying concerns and plan interventions to strengthen school connectedness and resilience.
• Mentor students through guidance, motivation, emotional support, coaching and role-modeling.
• Develop individual and group programmes including return-to-class support for long-term absentees and after-school engagement for at-risk students.
• Conduct home visits with school staff and liaise with parents/external agencies as needed.
• Monitor cases and maintain counselling records; submit weekly summaries.
• Coordinate work with external providers and share counselling tips with teachers once per term.
• Undertake supervision and professional development and safeguard official information.
