Job description

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving business growth and market expansion for the company’s thin film materials and parts across Magnetic data storage (MDS), Hard disk drives(HDD), Semiconductor, Electronics, Photovoltaic, and Decorative Coating industries. The role combines strong technical understanding of thin filmdeposition materials and parts with strategic sales execution to develop key accounts, identify new application opportunities, and expand the company’s presence in targeted markets.

This position manages the full commercial cycle including Business development, customer engagement, RFQ management, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation, with a focus on maximizing revenue growth and margin performance. The role requires continuous monitoring of market dynamics, customer technology roadmaps, and competitive activities to support strategic decision-making and accurate demand forecasting.

Working closely with internal teams such as Application Technology, Quality, Customer Service, and Finance, the position ensures effective technical support, smooth order fulfilment, and efficient resolution of customer issues. The role also contributes to market intelligence, customer mapping, and business planning, and support long-term growth in the thin film materials market.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
1. Key Account Management – Magnetic Data Storage (MDS)

Develop and strengthen relationships with new customers in the Magnetic data storage to expand business opportunities. Manage RFQs, maintain regular customer engagement, and identify opportunities to introduce new thin film material products and solutions. Provide technical coordination and market insights to support customers’ evolving application needs while optimizing pricing and margins through effective negotiation andstrong understanding of market dynamics.

Deliverable: Growth in revenue and margin from new accounts

2. New Account & Market Development

Identify and develop new customers and new applications across Electronics, Semiconductor, MDS, Photovoltaic, and Decorative Coating industries. Actively promote the company’s thin film materials portfolio and newly developed products, converting market opportunities into sustainable business.

Deliverable:

  • Acquisition of new strategic accounts
  • Increased market share and penetration in targeted industries
  • Successful commercialization of new products
3. Market Monitoring, Forecasting & Budget Planning

Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, customer developments, and application opportunities within the assigned territory. Maintain detailed customer and application mapping and provide rolling forecasts for revenue and material demand to support business planning and supply chain alignment.

  • Accurate market intelligence and competitive insights
  • Reliable sales forecasts and demand planning
4. Credit & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with the company’s credit management policies. Monitor customer payment performance and collaborate with the finance department to support effective collection of receivables when necessary.

  • Healthy accounts receivable status and minimized financial risk
5. Customer Service & Order Coordination

Work closely with the Customer Service team to ensure efficient order processing and clear communication with customers. Provide timely updates on pricing, delivery schedules, and customer requirements to ensure smooth order execution.

  • Efficient order management and strong customer satisfaction
6. Competitive Landscape Analysis

Monitor and analyze competitor activities, pricing strategies, sourcing models, and market positioning. Build and maintain a structured database covering competitors, applications, customer segments, and market share.

Deliverable:

  • Strong understanding of competitive dynamics within the territory
7. Complaint & Technical Issue Management

Act as the primary contact for customers in handling product or application issues. Collect and communicate relevant information to Quality and Application Technology teams and ensure timely feedback and resolution for customers.

Deliverable:

  • Efficient complaint resolution with minimal business disruption
REQUIREMENTS

1. Profound knowledge of Thin Film Technology in Semiconductor, Electronics and MDS

2. Proven track record of successful sales experience in consumables, achieving and/or exceeding sales of 3mUSD

3. Intercultural experience – an advantage

4. Strong negotiation skills

5. Interpersonal skills, cooperation attitude

6. Strong communication, reporting skills

7. Excellent presentation skill

8. MS-Office Applications

9.Fluent in English.

10.Mandarin proficiency is required due to frequent interaction with China counterparts

11. Willingness to travel as required.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Material/ Chemistry/ Metallurgy/Electronics/Mechanical/Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Knowledge or coursework related to thin film technology, vacuum coating, semiconductor processing, optics, or materials engineering is highly preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical field or business discipline (MBA) is an advantage.
Professional Experience
  • Minimum 5–8 years of sales or business development experience in thin film materials, vacuum coating consumables, semiconductor materials, or advanced materials industries.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding annual sales targets of at least USD 3 million in technical or industrial consumables.
  • Strong experience in key account management and new customer acquisition within industries such as Magnetic data storage (MDS), Hard disk drives (HDD), Semiconductor, Electronics, Photovoltaic, and Decorative Coating industries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of thin film deposition processes (e.g., PVD, sputtering, evaporation) and related materials used in coating applications.
  • Experience managing RFQs, pricing negotiations, contract discussions, and sales forecasting.
  • Familiarity with international business environments and cross-cultural customer interactions is preferred.
  • Experience working with technical teams (application engineering, quality, R&D) to support customer applications and resolve technical issues.
  • Previous experience in regional sales management or building a sales team is an advantage.
