Job Role Description
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the organization's WSH procedures to promote a safe work environment. You will conduct incident investigations and identifies cases of non-compliance with organizational procedures and legal WSH requirements. Evaluates risks associated with the hazards identified in the workplace and reports progress of corrective and preventive actions undertaken within nominated areas. You will also participate in the Main Safety Committee meetings, and may occupy the role of functional WSH lead to perform or adhere to corporate WSH or Regulatory guidelines/frameworks or be appointed as a secretary to record meeting minutes.
Main Tasks
- Analyse data on Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) performance, conditions and practices.
- Carry out WSH compliance inspections.
- Clarify WSH programme requirements to employees of other departments.
- Coach team members on how to conduct routine checks on work activities.
- Conduct WSH incident and accident investigations.
- Conduct document reviews of Workplace Safety and Health Management System (WSHMS) reports.
- Coordinate Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) drills and the maintenance of emergency response equipment.
- Coordinate WSH programme initiatives.
- Develop and deliver safety briefings.
- Evaluate WSH non-compliance, unsafe work conditions and practices to identify WSH performance gaps.
- Evaluate impact of health hazards to employees' safety and prioritize issues based on severity.
- Highlight barriers in complying with WSH policy and procedure.
- Identify areas for improvement in the WSHMS.
- Implement an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) and communicate it to stakeholders.
- Implement Workplace Safety and Health Management System (WSHMS) and Risk Management (RM) plans within scope of own work.
- Maintain WSHMS documentation.
- Monitor the implementation progress of recommended WSHMS improvements.
- Propose corrective and preventive measures to address root cause of incident.
- Review investigation findings to identify causes of incidents and accidents.
- Support Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policy and procedure implementation.
- Maintain good communication with internal and external stakeholders in regards to operations
- Liaise with Site Manager and Client representative on the findings and troubleshooting
- Manage external vendors for technical aspects (risk management, safety management, and safety inspection)
- Record safety inspection findings and delivering of safety brief with findings at hand and ensure no reoccurrence of non-compliance/violation.
- Conduct Kick-Off Meeting and Orientation of premises rules and requirements
Job Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and SSHE related with min 3 years of relevant experience.
- Team player, good interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently
- Good knowledge in Workplace Safety & Health Act, ISO45001, ISO14000, Security Management Systems
- Candidates must be comfortable with high travel frequency to other job sites, including Jurong Island
Work Arrangement: 5 days work week (8am to 6pm)
