We are looking for a responsible and hands-on Workplace Safety & Health Coordinator (WSHC) to support the construction of a Pedestrian Overhead Bridge (POB) project. The successful candidate shall assist the Project/Site Manager and site team in implementing and maintaining the project's Workplace Safety & Health requirements and promoting a strong safety culture on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and update Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and other relevant WSH documentation for individual construction activities.
- Ensure RA and SWP requirements are properly communicated to workers and implemented at the worksite.
- Conduct site safety inspections and monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved RA, SWP and statutory WSH requirements.
- Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and potential hazards, and follow up with the site team on corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining the project's WSH Management System and site safety procedures.
- Be familiar with applicable Singapore Government WSH legislation, regulations, codes of practice and safety requirements relevant to construction works.
- Conduct and coordinate toolbox meetings, safety induction, safety briefings, safety training and WSH meetings .
- Organise and participate in safety promotion programmes, safety campaigns and WSH awareness activities .
- Maintain proper safety records, inspection reports, training records, RA/SWP registers and other WSH documentation.
- Assist in incident/near-miss reporting, investigation and implementation of preventive measures.
- Liaise with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and workers on daily WSH matters.
- Monitor subcontractors' compliance with project safety requirements.
- Participate in safety inspections/audits conducted by the Main Contractor, consultants, client and relevant government authorities.
- Support WSH requirements for higher-risk POB construction activities such as lifting operations, work at height, excavation, temporary works, structural works, road-related works and other construction activities as applicable.
Requirements
- Possess relevant and recognised WSH Coordinator / construction safety training certification applicable to the position.
- Relevant WSH experience in the Singapore construction industry .
- Experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, road, bridge or Pedestrian Overhead Bridge (POB) projects will be an advantage.
- Must be able to independently prepare RA and SWP based on actual construction activities and site conditions.
- Good working knowledge of Singapore WSH requirements and construction safety practices.
- Able to conduct safety induction, toolbox meetings, safety briefings and training effectively.
- Able to carry out site inspections and take appropriate action to rectify unsafe conditions or work practices.
- Good communication skills and able to work closely with workers, supervisors, subcontractors and the project management team.
- Proficient in preparation and maintenance of WSH documentation and reports.
- Possession of additional relevant safety certificates/training such as Work at Height, Lifting Operations, Confined Space, First Aid or other construction-related WSH courses will be an advantage.
- Candidates should provide copies/details of their relevant WSH certificates and previous project experience when applying.
Preferred Candidate
We are looking for a practical and site-oriented Safety Coordinator , not only someone capable of preparing safety documentation. The candidate must be prepared to work closely with the construction team on site to ensure that the requirements stated in the RA and SWP are actually implemented and controlled throughout the work.
Salary Range
Salary Range: S$2,600 - S$3,200 per month
Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's relevant qualifications, WSH certification, construction experience and ability to independently manage day-to-day site safety matters.
