Job summary

EATERS MARKET PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an experienced butcher for our retail counter. You will cut, debone, trim meats, and prepare marinated products to meet customer needs.

You will provide friendly service, advise on meat selection and cooking methods, uphold strict hygiene standards, and assist with inventory and displays. Fluency in English and Basic Food Hygiene certification are preferred.

• Proven experience as a butcher in a retail environment.
• Excellent knife skills and knowledge of meat cuts.
• Strong understanding of meat quality, preparation, and cooking methods.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, and debone meat into standard cuts.
• Prepare marinated meats and value-added products.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and advice on meat selection and cooking methods.
• Create attractive meat displays with proper labeling and pricing; maintain clean displays.
• Follow hygiene and safety procedures; operate knives and Saws safely; maintain a safe work area.
• Receive deliveries, inspect meat, and assist with inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Meat Cutting and Preparation:

• Expertly cut, trim, and debone various types of meat (beef, lamb, poultry) into desired cuts, including steaks, roasts, chops, and ground meat.
• Prepare marinated meats, sausages, and other value-added products.
• Follow proper handling and storage procedures to maintain meat quality and freshness

Customer Service:

• Provide friendly and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Offer advice on meat selection, cooking methods,and recipe ideas.
• Answer customer questions accurately and professionally.
• Build rapport with regular customers to encourage repeat business.

Merchandising and Display:

• Create attractive and eye-catching displays of meat products.
• Ensure proper labelling, pricing, and rotation of stock.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Workplace Safety and Hygiene:

• Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Follow all safety procedures when using knives, saws, and other equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Other Duties:

• Receive and inspect meat deliveries.
• Assist with inventory management.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in English: Able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues in English.
• Certifications: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred).

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Working hours:

• 10AM to 7 PM - Tuesday to Sunday
