About the role

The successful Technologist will be part of Research, Development & Applications (RDA) team, based out of Kerry’s Global Technology & Innovation Centre (GTIC) in Singapore. Your role will be to assist the team to carry out all RDA activities that are a vital part of development and application, where the key end-use markets will be wet dairy related applications.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize formulations for dairy applications (e.g., dairy beverages, yoghurt, cream, butter & etc).
  • Apply functional ingredients in dairy matrices to meet sensory, nutritional, shelf-life targets and driving collections from multiple core technologies.
  • Conduct pilot trials, bench-top experiments and sample making.
  • Translate customer or market needs into technical solutions and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with commercial, marketing and regulatory teams and the other functions on projects.
  • Provide technical support to customers, including capability presentations, troubleshooting and on-site application support if needed.
  • Keep abreast of Kerry Technologies, trends, scientific developments and regulatory changes in the dairy industry.
  • Document and maintain detailed records of formulations, trial results, and project reports.
  • Product & Raw Material Portfolio support and maintenance:
    • Understanding of raw material portfolio on its functionality, physical, chemical and microbiological compositions.
    • Maintains adequate stock of standard “collection” flavour and products.
  • Laboratory Maintenance:
    • Follows established procedures in relation to laboratory & equipment maintenance and material stock control

Learnings/Exposures you will gain:

  • Exposure to Product Development, End-Use-Market Application, Sensory Evaluation Process, Test Protocol and Sensory Lexicon.
  • Hands-on experience with product specific Application Recipes.
  • Ability to understand New Product Development process from bench development to scale-up.
  • Exposure to how the RDA team utilises Food Science to solve customer challenges.
  • How to communicate across a diverse organisation with many different cultures, geographies and preferences.
  • Understand the various products that fall within different food technology clusters and how its application can span across multiple end-use- markets.
  • Hands-on laboratory skill and analysis of data.
Qualifications and skills
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food or Process Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field within Applied Sciences.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in dairy product development and application, including but not limited to dairy beverages, yogurt, cream, and similar products.
  • Practical experience operating laboratory and pilot-scale dairy processing equipment.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning about ingredients and recipe formulation.
