Job Summary
Manage end-to-end purchasing activities for the Singapore headquarters and support regional sister companies, ensuring timely procurement, supplier performance, and cost optimization in a technical environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end purchasing activities including supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, price negotiation, and procurement execution for Singapore headquarters and support Malaysia and Indonesia operations as needed
- Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, lead time, and operational requirements to identify and secure alternative sources when necessary
- Manage supplier relationships and performance by resolving quality or delivery issues and negotiating commercial terms to ensure service excellence
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to fulfill purchasing requirements promptly and accurately
- Monitor outstanding orders and proactively follow up to prevent delays, shortages, or operational disruptions
- Manage inventory and stock control activities to maintain adequate availability and accurate stock records
- Coordinate local and overseas deliveries, shipments, and logistics arrangements to ensure timely receipt of goods
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, supplier, and product documentation for compliance and operational efficiency
- Provide guidance and operational support to purchasing staff across the Group to enhance team performance
- Support annual budget preparation and monitor actual expenses against approved budgets to ensure financial control
- Drive cost optimization initiatives and continuous improvement of purchasing processes to enhance efficiency
- Support departmental compliance, internal audits, and general purchasing operations to uphold standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support business needs
Required competencies and certifications
- Proficiency in Chinese to communicate effectively with China-based suppliers and navigate Chinese-language sourcing platforms, essential for supplier liaison and sourcing activities
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of relevant purchasing experience, preferably in engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, or technical environments
- Experience sourcing chemicals, laboratory supplies, equipment, or technical materials
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with good command of English
- IT proficiency with experience in ERP or other business systems
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous, proactive, and fast learner with strong follow-up skills
- Cost-conscious with good commercial awareness
