Job summary

A public area cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces like lobbies, hallways, and restrooms. Key duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing, as well as emptying trash, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance issues. The role ensures a welcoming environment for guests and staff while following health and safety protocols.

Key responsibilities
  • General cleaning : Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors; dusting and polishing furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Restroom maintenance : Cleaning and sanitizing public restrooms, and regularly restocking supplies like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Waste removal : Emptying trash bins and replacing liners in all public areas.
  • Surface cleaning : Wiping down glass doors, mirrors, walls, and other surfaces.
  • Equipment upkeep : Maintaining and cleaning cleaning equipment, and ensuring cleaning supplies are properly stored.
  • Reporting : Immediately reporting any maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to a supervisor.
  • Guest interaction : Assisting guests when required and maintaining a professional and friendly attitude.
  • Special tasks : Assisting with special cleaning projects or events, such as carpet shampooing or cleaning banquet halls.
Qualifications and skills
