Job summary

RRecruiter is seeking a Procurement Engineer to support sourcing activities for engineering and high-volume manufacturing projects in Singapore. You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely procurement of high-quality mechanical and electrical components while driving cost efficiency and supply continuity.

The role requires a strong engineering background, ability to interpret drawings and specifications, and good negotiation and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 2–3 years of engineering sourcing or procurement experience.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and documentation.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Manage sourcing for engineering and production projects with mechanical and electrical components.
  • Review drawings, specifications and requirements to select suppliers.
  • Evaluate suppliers on technical capability, quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, especially long-lead materials.
  • Drive cost improvements via supplier consolidation, value engineering, and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support timelines.
  • Support continuous improvements in sourcing processes and supplier onboarding.

Job description

We are seeking a Procurement Engineer to support sourcing activities for engineering and high-volume manufacturing projects. This role requires someone with a strong engineering background who can work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely procurement of high-quality mechanical and electrical components while driving cost efficiency and supply continuity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage sourcing activities for engineering and production projects involving mechanical and electrical components.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements to ensure accurate supplier selection and procurement decisions.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on technical capabilities, quality, delivery performance, and commercial competitiveness.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, particularly for critical and long lead-time materials.
  • Drive continuous cost improvement through supplier consolidation, value engineering, and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support project timelines and production requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing processes, supplier onboarding, and digital procurement tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in engineering sourcing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product documentation.
  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical components and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated team player with a proactive and accountable attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or high-volume manufacturing (HVM) projects.
  • Knowledge of supplier development, value engineering, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Experience working in electronics, semiconductor, precision engineering, or advanced manufacturing industries.
