Job summary

Venture is seeking a Principal Engineer, R&D (Electronics) in Singapore to drive hardware architecture for next-generation life science instrumentation and medical devices. Based at our HQ in Ang Mo Kio, the role blends deep technical execution with cost and schedule goals.

The successful candidate will lead architecture across embedded systems, ensure regulatory compliance (IEC standards), and work with cross-functional teams to deliver robust products.

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded micro-processor system design.
• Familiar with medical device standards such as IEC 60601-1/60601-1-2.
• Ability to lead architecture work with ISO 13485 quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable electrical architectures using embedded SOMs/SOCs for analytics and data pipelines.
• Design telemetry and control platforms to monitor laboratory instrumentation 24/7.
• Ensure hardware subsystems meet regulatory safety and EMC standards.
• Lead system-level FMEA and risk management per ISO requirements.
• Collaborate with Optical, ME, Firmware, and software teams on edge hardware.
• Create architectural specs, design histories, and verification protocols per ISO 13485.
• Lead board bring-up, testing and product-level verification; drive robustness.

As a Principal Engineer, R&D(Electronics), you will:

The Principal EE Architect drives overall hardware architecture for next-generation life science instrumentation and medical devices. This role balances in-depth technical execution — leveraging Venture embedded SOM/SOC solutions and systems— with aggressive business goals. The ideal candidate must optimize total cost of ownership, mitigate supply chain risks, accelerate time-to-market, and directly influence product profitability while ensuring full regulatory compliance.

• System & Compute Architecture: Architect scalable electrical architectures utilizing Venture embedded SOMs and SOCs to handle compute-intensive analytical processing, high-speed data pipelines, and peripheral connectivity.
• Facility & Telemetry Integration: Design, interface, and deploy standalone Picobox controller platforms (e.g., Modbus DAQ, telemetry) to ensure continuous 24/7 environmental, thermal, and critical fault monitoring of sensitive laboratory instrumentation.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all hardware sub-systems comply with rigid medical device standards, including IEC 60601-1 (safety) and IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC).
• Lead system-level Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Risk Management workflows in accordance with ISO requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Optical, ME, Firmware, and software team leads to align edge hardware architectures with software requirements
• Life-Cycle Documentation: Author architectural specifications, design histories, and verification protocols compliant with ISO 13485 quality systems
• Experienced in Design and Development in the following areas:
  • Embedded micro-processor system design.
  • IO standards and protocol such as USB, IR, LAN, Blue tooth, etc.
  • Power electronics – DC-DC, AC-DC converter, etc.
  • Analog – sensing technologies, signal conditioning.
  • Developing and testing algorithms to ensure electronics, software and hardware integrated successfully.
  • Overall lead on boards brings up, testing and verify board to product level functionality.
  • Work with extended team on reliability tests to ensure design robustness.
  • Solving electronics challenges to create better, faster, more cost-effective solutions.
