Job summary

Responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance and repair of launching girders, segment erectors, lifting frames and other heavy-lifting equipment.
• Manage maintenance and operational readiness of construction plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electromechanical systems and coordinate repairs.
• Plan preventive maintenance, inspections, testing and calibration to ensure reliability.
• Coordinate with project teams, engineers, equipment manufacturers and site personnel on plant requirements and deployment.
• Supervise testing and commissioning to meet project specs and requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and training to site personnel on safe operation of plant and equipment.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Plant Superintendent to manage and support specialised heavy construction plant and erection equipment for bridge and viaduct projects. The role requires hands on technical expertise in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems with experience in launching girders, lifting frames, segment erection equipment, commissioning and plant maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance and repair of launching girders, segment erectors, lifting frames and other specialised heavy-lifting equipment.
• Manage the maintenance and operational readiness of construction plant and equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electromechanical faults and coordinate the necessary repairs and modifications.
• Plan and implement preventive maintenance, inspections, testing and calibration to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
• Manage and maintain specialised equipment used for post-tensioning, heavy lifting and grouting works.
• Coordinate with project teams, engineers, equipment manufacturers, subcontractors and site personnel on plant requirements, technical issues and equipment deployment.
• Supervise testing and commissioning and ensure equipment meets project specifications and operational requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and training to site personnel on the safe operation and use of specialised plant and equipment.
• Plan plant activities, manpower requirements, maintenance schedules and equipment deployment in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure all plant and equipment activities comply with applicable safety requirements, method statements and project procedures.

Requirement :

• Relevant technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Plant Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in heavy construction plant, preferably within bridge, viaduct or major infrastructure projects.
• Hands on experience with launching girders, lifting frames, heavy-lifting systems and segment erection equipment is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and fault diagnosis.
• Experience in equipment assembly, modification, testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance and repair.
• Strong supervisory, planning, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work effectively with engineering, construction and site teams.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability.
