Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in IT, computer/network engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years in network infrastructure or data centre environments.

• IP addressing, VLANs, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and network troubleshooting.
• Able to read network diagrams and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Support the installation, implementation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of network and IT infrastructure.
• Install, terminate, test, label, and maintain copper and fibre optic cabling systems.
• Support the deployment and installation of network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and related infrastructure.
• Assist with server installation, rack mounting, equipment configuration, and basic troubleshooting.
• Install and maintain server racks, network racks, patch panels, cable trays, containment, and cable management systems.
• Perform structured cabling works including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fibre optic, and other network cabling.
• Carry out fibre optic splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting where required.
• Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate testing equipment.
• Assist with network infrastructure setup, patching, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Perform site surveys and assess existing network and IT infrastructure.
• Read and interpret network diagrams, rack layouts, cable schedules, floor plans, and technical drawings.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, cabling, hardware, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Identify faulty cables, ports, network equipment, and other infrastructure components and assist with rectification.
• Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for technical support and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and site teams to ensure installation works are carried out according to project requirements.
• Maintain proper cable identification, labelling, patching, and documentation.
• Prepare and update network diagrams, cable schedules, rack elevations, testing records, and as-built documentation.
• Assist with system testing, commissioning, migration, and handover activities.
• Support preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting activities when required.
• Ensure all works comply with project specifications, quality standards, workplace safety requirements, and site regulations.
• Attend project and data centre sites when required.

Job Summary

We are seeking a technically capable and hands-on Network & Structured Cabling Engineer to support the installation, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network infrastructure, server infrastructure, structured cabling, and data centre systems. The candidate will be involved in a wide range of IT infrastructure activities, including network equipment, servers, racks, copper and fibre optic cabling, patching, cable management, testing, and system troubleshooting. The role will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, technicians, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure IT infrastructure and cabling works are implemented safely, correctly, and according to project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in network infrastructure, structured cabling, data centre infrastructure, IT infrastructure, or related fields
• Good understanding of network infrastructure and structured cabling systems
• Hands-on experience with copper and fibre optic cabling
• Knowledge of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fibre optic, patch panels, racks, and cable management
• Basic knowledge of network equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points
• Basic understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and network troubleshooting
• Experience with server racks, network racks, patching, and equipment installation
• Able to read and understand network diagrams, rack layouts, cable schedules, and technical drawings
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a project team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical documentation
• Willing to travel to project sites and data centres when required

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in data centres or critical IT infrastructure environments
• Experience with structured cabling systems including Cat6/Cat6A and fibre optic cabling
• Hands-on experience with fibre optic splicing, termination, OTDR testing, and fibre certification
• Experience using Fluke or other cable certification testers
• Knowledge of single-mode and multimode fibre
• Experience with network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, and server infrastructure
• Familiarity with Cisco, HPE, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, Dell, or other network infrastructure platforms
• Knowledge of server hardware and platforms such as Dell, HPE, Lenovo, or equivalent
• Familiarity with data centre rack layouts, cable containment, overhead cabling, underfloor cabling, and structured cabling practices
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and technical drawing software
• Knowledge of BICSI standards or structured cabling best practices
• Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance
• Experience working with data centre operators, main contractors, consultants, or M&E contractors is an advantage
• Relevant networking, cabling, data centre, or IT infrastructure certifications will be an advantage
