Digital Division Overview
The Digital Division leads the digital transformation of DSO through planning and policies, delivering digital capabilities through IT infrastructure, and providing a one‑stop service to corporate and R&D divisions. Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer (Structured Cabling)
In This Role, You Will
- Be part of the Network Infrastructure team to ensure that DSO enterprise IT networks and systems are developed and deployed in an efficient and robust manner towards a high level of maintainability, reliability and availability.
- Provide technical expertise for planning and executing structured cabling projects, including network rack design for office expansions, new builds, and renovations.
- Define infrastructure requirements for network facilities such as Main Distribution Frames (MDF), Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDF), cable trays, pathways, rack spaces, and power/cooling needs.
- Lead project management activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of structured cabling, aligned with business operations such as office move‑ins or expansion schedules.
- Manage and coordinate third‑party vendors and contractors for the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
- Develop and enforce internal standards and best practices for structured cabling, ensuring cable labeling, asset tracking, and documentation accuracy.
- Maintain up‑to‑date technical documentation including cable schedules, rack layouts, patch panel mapping, fiber topology diagrams, and as‑built drawings.
- Optimize network and system performance while ensuring compliance with IT security policies and requirements.
- Troubleshoot enterprise IT network issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Promote productivity through automation and scripting for routine infrastructure and operational tasks.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Structured cabling architecture, network infrastructure planning, vendor and contractor coordination, IDF/Network room design, infrastructure documentation and standards, stakeholder communications.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in the design, implementation, and management of complex structured cabling systems and network infrastructure, preferably within large organizations in Singapore.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with ANSI/TIA‑568 structured cabling standards, and proficiency in both copper and fibre optic cabling systems.
- Experience in the planning, layout, and build‑out of MDF and IDF rooms; ability to interpret and review construction and technical drawings.
- Strong background in network architecture and design, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN solutions.
- Proven expertise in installing and supporting network hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, controllers, and related network devices.
- Deep understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and network security technologies (IPS, VPNs, firewalls, access controls).
- Knowledge of datacenter standards, such as TIA‑942, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with IT security practices, including system hardening and vulnerability management.
- Strong project management, vendor management, and contract oversight skills.
- Excellent documentation, communication (verbal and written), and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities; capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CNCDP, or similar will be an advantage.
