Job summary

A leading research institute in Singapore seeks a motivated individual for a role in maintaining national measurement standards for pressure and flow. The candidate will work in a collaborative team, supporting technical measurements and standards, with opportunities for professional growth. The ideal applicant will possess a degree in Science or Engineering and relevant skills in instrumentation and statistical analysis. Experience in industry applications is valued but not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • 2 years or more of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Candidates with no experience in pressure and flow metrology field will still be considered.
  • Proactive team contributor who is self-driven and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure compliance of national measurement standards in pressure and flow.
  • Establish international equivalence of measurement capabilities.
  • Provide technical support in peer-reviews for calibration recognition.
  • Disseminate measurement technologies to the industry.
  • Develop new metrology capabilities based on industry needs.
  • Support consultancies and training in pressure and flow measurements.
  • Assist in supervising students and trainees.
  • Conduct technical assessments for accreditation.
  • Ensure lab operation meets health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Job Description

The A*STAR’s National Metrology Centre (NMC) is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. NMC is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and innovative staff with good interpersonal skills to join our multi-disciplinary team.

Successful candidate will be working with a team of technical associates, metrologists and scientists to support a competent and internationally recognized national measurement infrastructure for Singapore.

Responsibilities

1. Maintenance and quality assurance of national measurement standards and systems in pressure and flow to ensure their compliance with NMC’s quality system based on ISO/IEC 17025 quality standard.

2. Establishment of international equivalence of pressure and flow measurement capabilities through providing technical support in international measurement comparisons.

3. Providing technical support in peer‑reviews by external experts to achieve international recognition for calibration and measurement capabilities in pressure and flow area.

4. Dissemination of the national pressure and flow standards and measurement technologies to the industry through calibration and measurement services.

5. Participation in the development of new metrology capabilities and services based on emerging needs of the industry.

6. Raising measurement capabilities of industry by supporting consultancies, training and proficiency testing in pressure and flow measurements.

7. Assisting in the supervision of students and trainees under attachment programmes.

8. Conducting technical assessments under Singapore Accreditation Council‑Singapore Lab Accreditation Scheme, and training of new technical assessors.

9. Ensuring lab operation meets NMC’s requirement in Health Safety and Environment

Job Requirement

  • Automation and digitalisation skills including hardware and software integration will be an advantage.
