- Monitor Global Fundamentals: Conduct in-depth analysis of the global LNG market, including monitoring supply and demand fundamentals, shipping dynamics, and storage levels.
- Track Geopolitical Factors: Monitor geopolitical events, regulatory changes, and market news to assess their potential impact on LNG markets.
- Develop Market Views: Formulate and clearly communicate a forward-looking market view to internal stakeholders, especially trading and commercial teams, to inform and shape trading strategies.
- Identify Opportunities and Risks: Help identify market opportunities, assess risks, and provide data-driven recommendations to maximize profitability.
Modeling & Data
- Build and Maintain Models: Develop, maintain, and enhance a suite of analytical quantitative models and tools (often using Python or SQL) to forecast global balances, price movements, and market volatility.
- Data Analysis and Automation: Utilize programming skills to automate data analysis tasks, process large datasets, and create interactive dashboards/visualizations (e.g., in Tableau or Power BI) for monitoring market trends and trade performance.
- Portfolio Optimization: Run models to evaluate and optimize the performance of the company's LNG portfolio and trading strategies.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare Reports: Create daily, weekly, and ad-hoc reports, presentations, and market updates summarizing complex analytical findings and market views.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with LNG traders, risk management, operations, and finance teams to integrate analysis into commercial decision-making processes.
Job Requirements
- Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related science.
- Quantitative Skills: Very strong numerical and analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and quantitative methods (e.g., sensitivity analysis, Monte Carlo simulation).
- Programming: Proficiency in programming languages like Python and SQL for data handling, modeling, and automation.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Excel, as well as experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex data and insights to diverse stakeholders (traders, management).
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and be a practical problem-solver, generating commercially relevant interpretations of analysis.
- Teamwork: A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable team player, comfortable managing stress and delivering against tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
