About the role
Reporting to the Plant Director, you’ll be responsible for:
- Partners with the Site Director and Site Leadership Team to develop and execute a comprehensive learning strategy that strengthens operational capability, supports employee development, and enables the site to achieve its performance goals.
- Designs, governs, and sustains a structured training system covering onboarding, upskilling, certification, SME development, and long-term career growth for hourly and salaried employees.
- This role governs the learning and capability system but is not expected to perform technical or equipment‑specific training for operators or technicians. All hands‑on technical and machine‑specific training is delivered by functional SMEs (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS).
Responsibilities
1. Learning Strategy & Governance
- Develop and execute an L&D strategy aligned to site goals, operational priorities, and workforce capability needs.
- Establish a sustainable training structure covering onboarding, technical upskilling, certification, cross‑training, and leadership development.
- Partner with HR Manager and functional leaders to identify current and future capability gaps.
2. Training System Design & Standardization
- Lead the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of L&D solutions and materials.
- Develop and maintain SOPs related to training governance.
- Ensure learning programs apply relevant learning principles and effective knowledge transfer.
- Utilize blended learning (classroom, OJT, digital, simulation, etc.).
3. Technical Training Governance (Not the Technical Trainer)
- Own the technical training framework, process, and governance.
- Ensure all equipment‑specific, technical, and maintenance training is delivered by qualified SMEs.
- Develop and manage SME and OJT trainer certification programs.
- Audit and calibrate SME‑led technical training for consistency and accuracy.
- Maintain strong alignment with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, QA, and EHS.
4. Workforce Capability Building
- Partner with functional leaders to plan and enable capability development across shifts.
- Support SME‑led training and ensure trainers apply consistent standards.
- Identify skill gaps and recommend updates to technical training materials.
5. New Hire Onboarding & Compliance Training
- Oversee onboarding programs including safety, quality, GMP, plant tours, gowning, and expectations.
- Ensure compliance training meets regulatory and internal requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records and capability metrics.
6. Continuous Improvement & Change Management
- Lead learning and training programs for new systems, digital tools, and technology upgrades.
- Research and recommend new training platforms/tools that enhance learning.
- Coordinate external vendors for specialized training requirements.
7. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Partner with Site Leadership to ensure capability needs are met.
- Communicate progress, gaps, and risks to leadership.
- Promote a strong learning culture supporting performance, safety, and growth.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Education, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a multinational manufacturing environment (Nutrition, Pharmaceutical, Food Industry preferred).
- Strong capability in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs.
- Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with modern and traditional training methods (OJT, classroom, digital).
- Ability to influence across levels and functions.
