Job summary

Ambition is seeking a Software Lead in Singapore to oversee technical delivery while staying actively involved in development. You will guide engineers, make implementation decisions, and own code quality, testing and delivery across assigned applications or workstreams.

In this role you will design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs, lead Agile planning and delivery, evaluate design options with architects, and drive secure, well-tested solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field.
• 6+ years hands-on software development experience.
• 3+ years leading technical teams or projects.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices and secure development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain applications, backend services and APIs.
• Lead technical planning, task estimation and delivery within an Agile team.
• Collaborate with architects to evaluate design options and implement scalable solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold coding, security and documentation standards.
• Define testing strategies for unit, integration, end-to-end, performance and reliability testing.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Coordinate with product, design, QA and DevOps teams to clarify requirements and manage dependencies.
• Identify technical risks and resolve delivery blockers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain applications, backend services and APIs.
• Lead technical planning, task estimation and delivery within an Agile team.
• Work with architects to evaluate design options and implement scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold coding, security and documentation standards.
• Define testing strategies covering unit, integration, end-to-end, performance and reliability testing.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, security scanning and deployment.
• Coordinate with product, design, QA and DevOps teams to clarify requirements and manage dependencies.
• Identify technical risks, resolve delivery blockers and troubleshoot production issues.
• Mentor engineers and improve development practices.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of hands-on software development experience, including 3 years leading technical teams, modules or projects.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field; equivalent demonstrated professional experience may be considered.
• Strong proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, C#, or TypeScript with Angular, React or Next.js.
• Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, object-oriented programming and secure development practices.
• Practical experience with Agile delivery, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD and Git.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to explain technical decisions, coordinate delivery and coach engineers.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps is advantageous.
