Job description

The Investment Counselor (IC) is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within their own field and the business. They are recognized as the authority for investment products and market trends within the organization. The IC communicates and disseminates market views internally and to external clients, and formulates investment proposals that best suit client needs.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Client Advisors to manage investment relationships and deliver the Chief Investment Officer (CIO)’s views to wealth clients.
  • Serve as a primary client contact and trusted investment advisor, including direct selling, determining suitability, identifying product opportunities, providing portfolio advice, and executing after‑sales.
  • Collaborate with Market Managers and support Client Advisors serving North Asia markets.
  • Grow existing clients’ share of wallet and win a greater percentage of high net worth prospects by delivering quality solutions.
  • Educate sales force on product solutions, create customized proposals for high net worth clients, and accompany sales professionals during client meetings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to offer complete advice and wealth solutions.
  • Leverage specialists and wholesalers to provide subject matter expertise, presenting or co‑presenting at client events.
  • Provide a high level of communication and customer service to sales professionals and their clients.
  • Accountable for product revenue goals and penetration goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding the organization, clients and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
  • 10‑15 years of experience in investment product sales.
  • Broad understanding of financial services, product solutions and all aspects of financial planning strategies and concepts.
  • Client‑centric skills including excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is essential for the role.
  • Specific licensing may be required.
Education
  • Bachelor’s/University degree; Master’s degree preferred.
