Job summary

Dyson Institute in Singapore is seeking a Design Engineer in New Product Innovation to join a multi-disciplinary team tasked with discovering and developing disruptive product concepts and new-to-market features. You will contribute to ideation and help realise approved concepts within the NPI operating model milestones.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
• Experience on complex user needs and challenging technical problems.
• Creativity with the ability to work in small, focused teams.
• Practical, iterative approach with prototyping and testing.

Responsibilities

• Generate original ideas and identify market opportunities, translating them into product concepts from first principles up.
• Engineer mechanical and electronic systems that define future product specifications, optimizing for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Design and build functional prototypes, including bespoke test methods, for performance validation and stakeholder demonstration.
• Validate concepts through hand calculations, simulations (MATLAB & Simulink, 1D modelling, Ansys), and rapid lab testing.
• Interpret test and simulation data, presenting insights in technical reviews within the team.
• Develop scalable mechanical systems using 3D CAD (Siemens NX) and PLM (Teamcenter).
• Collaborate with Research and cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and stay current with industry trends.
