Job summary

Singapore College of Insurance seeks a General Insurance Broker Manager to lead and grow the GI portfolio, advising clients on optimal programs and risk strategies. You will negotiate with markets, mentor teams, and drive growth while keeping abreast of regulatory developments and market trends.

The role requires extensive GI experience, leadership abilities, and a track record in delivering client-focused insurance solutions for mid-market and corporate accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in risk, insurance or related field.
• Postgraduate qualifications are favourable.
• Chartered Insurance Institute membership (ACII/FCII) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the General Insurance broking portfolio across classes (Property, Liability, Work Injury, Marine).
• Provide client advisory and design suitable insurance programs for clients.
• Develop growth strategies and negotiate with markets for best terms.
• Mentor and develop broking teams; drive performance and service excellence.
• Conduct risk analyses, incident response planning and risk management discussions.
• Stay updated on regulatory developments, trends, and market insights.

Job description

General Insurance Broker Manager – He/She should be proficient to handle all classes of business within the General Insurance spectrum, such as Property, Terrorism, all classes of Liability, Work Injury Compensation and other general classes of insurance. He/She is to lead the development and growth of the Company's General Insurance portfolio, including providing client advisory, designing suitable insurance programs/structures for clients, supporting incident response planning and risk management/consulting, negotiating with markets, keeping abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends & insights, as well as driving business development.

Key Responsibilities / DutiesKey Responsibilities / Duties

• Extensive experience in general insurance broking, underwriting, risk consulting or corporate insurance management.
• Proven experience handling commercial and corporate insurance programs.
• Strong exposure to Property, Terrorism, all classes of Liability, Work Injury Compensation, Marine Cargo insurance classes and other general insurance.
• Experience managing a sizeable portfolio of mid-market and large corporate accounts.Ability to develop and execute account strategies, renewal plans and long-term insurance programmes.
• Track record of achieving high client retention and growth.
• Ability to conduct claims reviews, loss analyses and risk management discussions.
• Experience advising clients on insurance programme optimisation and risk financing solutions.
• Familiarity with handling large and complex claims.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams and delivering business results.
• Experience leading broking teams and mentoring junior staff.
• Proven ability to motivate teams, manage performance and deliver service excellence.
• Experience using client insights and data-driven recommendations to improve retention and growth.
