Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to support on-premises and hybrid infrastructure critical to government/regulatory systems. You will drive operational stability, incident resolution, and governance across changes, SRs, and security alignment.

The role includes coordinating internal and vendor teams, tracking risks, and supporting a multi-year technology refresh toward cloud and hybrid environments. Strong collaboration with cross-functional groups is essential.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in infrastructure or platform operations.
• Experience supporting production or mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of virtualization, storage, backup, and networking.
• Experience with vendor-supported operating models and external teams.
• Experience in governance, security governance, change review, or SR approval processes.
• Experience coordinating technical projects, tracking risks, issues and dependencies.
• 2+ years in government or public sector settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational support and maintenance of critical platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Provide technical oversight across compute, storage, DR, HA, OS, and related infrastructure components.
• Lead incident management with deep technical analysis and recovery planning.
• Coordinate vendor activities to ensure timely delivery of tasks and service requests.
• Review changes and SRs to ensure alignment with security, architectural, and operational requirements.
• Support governance, risk awareness, and operational readiness checks.
