Responsibilities

  • Source, screen, and recruit skilled workers, engineers, project managers, and other construction-related roles.
  • Partner with site managers to plan manpower and understand workforce needs.
  • Oversee onboarding and induction into construction operations and safety practices.
  • Serve as primary contact for employee queries and concerns.
  • Promote open communication and address grievances; conduct site visits.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, attendance, and certifications.
  • Coordinate safety training, technical skills development, and leadership training programs.
  • Monitor performance, assist with appraisals, and support retention of top performers.
  • Plan manpower allocation across multiple construction sites; manage shifts and site transfers.
  • Promote health and safety compliance; manage insurance claims related to workplace injuries.
  • Develop and communicate HR policies; ensure inclusion and alignment with local culture.
  • Assist payroll processing; benefits administration for construction staff.
  • Provide HR reports on recruitment, attrition, workforce demographics, and training outcomes.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:Source, screen, and recruit skilled workers, engineers, project managers, and other construction-related roles.
    Partner with site managers to understand workforce needs and plan manpower accordingly.
    Manage onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring proper induction into construction operations and safety practices.
  2. Employee Relations:Act as the primary point of contact for employee queries and concerns.
    Foster a positive work environment by addressing grievances, mediating disputes, and promoting open communication.
    Conduct regular site visits to engage with employees and address any site-specific issues.
  3. Compliance & Documentation:Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contracts, attendance, and certifications.
    Oversee worker permits, visa processing (if applicable), and ensure proper documentation for migrant labor.
  4. Training & Development:Coordinate and deliver safety training, technical skills enhancement, and leadership development programs.
    Identify skill gaps and design training programs tailored to construction project needs.
    Maintain a database of certifications and ensure workers remain compliant with mandatory training requirements.
  5. Performance Management:Monitor employee performance, especially site-based workers, to ensure project efficiency.
    Support managers in conducting appraisals, setting performance benchmarks, and recognizing high performers.
    Develop retention strategies for critical construction roles.
  6. Workforce Planning & Deployment:Collaborate with project managers to plan manpower allocation across multiple construction sites.
    Manage workforce schedules, shift rotations, and site transfers as needed.
    Forecast workforce requirements based on project timelines.
  7. Health & Safety Compliance:Partner with safety officers to promote a safe working environment.
    Address occupational health concerns and manage insurance claims related to workplace injuries.
    Organize health and wellness programs for employees.
  8. HR Policies & Procedures:Develop, implement, and communicate HR policies specific to construction operations.
    Ensure policies are inclusive, promote diversity, and respect local cultural norms (especially on international sites).
    Regularly review and update policies to align with industry and organizational changes.
  9. Payroll & Compensation:Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accurate salary payments for site and office staff.
    Handle benefits administration, such as overtime, bonuses, and allowances for construction workers.
    Address payroll discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  10. HR Reporting:
  • Provide regular reports on recruitment, attrition, workforce demographics, and training outcomes.
  • Analyze trends in employee data to improve HR practices and support business objectives.
