Job summary

HWA CHONG INSTITUTION is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide on-site support for minor repair and maintenance across the school. The role ensures day-to-day requests are addressed promptly, contributing to a safe and well-maintained environment.

Responsibilities include small carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical tasks, and keeping accurate records of works and materials used while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum NITEC/Higher NITEC or equivalent technical qualification.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance or handyman services.
• Practical skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, fixtures and fittings, basic electrical-related maintenance and general building repairs.
• Able to work independently and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
• Good problem-solving and practical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repair & maintenance, including locks, handles, hinges, door hardware and fixtures.
• Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, patching, touch-up and general building repair works.
• Carry out minor electrical works, including light bulb replacement and rectification of electrical defects.
• Attend to ad-hoc maintenance requests and minor rectification works across the school premises.
• Conduce to basic checks and escalate more complex works where necessary.
• Support the team in maintaining cleanliness, functionality and condition of facilities.
• Use common hand and power tools safely and maintain records of maintenance works and materials used.

3. Tools & Work Records

• Use common hand and power tools safely and appropriately.

• Maintain proper records of maintenance works completed and materials used.

• Adhere to workplace safety requirements and relevant maintenance procedures.
