Job summary

Rhino Partners in Singapore is seeking a hands-on Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team, supporting a portfolio of digital products used across Singapore’s education ecosystem. You’ll develop and enhance features across frontend and backend, tackle production issues and help migrate legacy systems.

You’ll work with React, JavaScript and TypeScript, build APIs, use PostgreSQL, and operate in cloud environments with Docker and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of hands-on full stack software engineering experience.

Build and Support Digital Products Used Across Singapore’s Education System.

At Rhino Partners, we work with government agencies and enterprise organisations to build, modernise and support critical digital platforms. We’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team, supporting a portfolio of digital products used across Singapore’s education ecosystem.

You’ll work on established, high-impact applications used by schools, educators and students at scale. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll develop and enhance features, resolve production issues, strengthen application reliability and security, and support the migration and transition of existing systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

Full Stack Software Development

• Develop, enhance and maintain web applications across frontend and backend systems.
• Build and update user-facing functionality using React, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Develop and maintain backend services, APIs and integrations across multiple codebases.
• Work with relational databases including PostgreSQL.
• Write, review, test and ship production-quality code following established engineering practices.

Application Maintenance & Reliability

• Maintain business-critical digital products through bug fixes, security patches and infrastructure updates.
• Provide L2/L3 technical support, troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Monitor application health and investigate logs, metrics and traces using tools such as AWS CloudWatch, ECS and OpenTelemetry.
• Improve application stability, maintainability and operational resilience.

Cloud, DevOps & Migration

• Support cloud-hosted applications and containerised deployments using Docker.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates and modern deployment practices.
• Support application and platform migrations, including the transition and retirement of legacy systems.
• Ensure systems remain stable and supported throughout migration, handover and decommissioning activities.

Engineering Quality & Collaboration

• Use Git-based workflows, peer code reviews and engineering quality controls.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks and handover materials.
• Apply secure coding practices and support compliance with government security requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to prioritise and deliver enhancements, fixes and migration activities.

What We’re Looking For

• 4-7 years of hands-on Full Stack Software Engineering experience.
• Strong experience with React, JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Experience developing backend APIs and services using modern backend technologies.
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Comfortable working across multiple programming languages, applications and existing codebases.
• Experience with AWS or other major cloud platforms and cloud-hosted applications.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and Git.
• Experience troubleshooting production applications using logs, metrics and monitoring tools.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, Agile delivery and product-centric engineering.
• Strong awareness of secure coding, application security and engineering quality practices.
• Ability to quickly understand and work effectively within unfamiliar or legacy systems.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS ECS and CloudWatch.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry or similar observability tooling.
• Previous experience delivering software within Singapore Government or public-sector environments.
• Experience supporting application migrations, modernisation or legacy system decommissioning.
