Job summary

Tailscale is seeking a Founding Senior Customer Engineer to establish our Customer Engineering presence in Singapore and APAC. This hands-on role will solve complex networking problems and deliver an exceptional experience for customers. You’ll hire and onboard 1–3 engineers and shape team culture, practices, and standards.

The role requires in-office time and overlaps with NAMER/EMEA hours as needed. Based in Singapore, this full-time position supports global collaboration and regional growth,

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a technical SaaS support role.
• Experience leading teams or mentoring; people-management is a plus.
• Proven experience building teams or processes in a startup/new region.
• Strong networking and security knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, routing).

Responsibilities

• Serve as founding regional hire for Singapore customer engineering team.
• Build and establish culture and operational standards in Singapore region.
• Manage day-to-day support operations for 1–3 Tier 1/2 engineers.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and coaching for all direct reports in region.
• Coordinate in-office time to foster collaboration and establish the local office.
• Oversee regional support queue to meet SLA/SLO for APAC tickets.
• Act as internal escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Partner with VP to align regional outcomes with global strategy.
• Analyze regional CSAT and feedback to surface insights to leadership.
• Refine support workflows and tooling with Support and CX Operations.
• Conduct regular QA reviews on tickets to maintain technical accuracy.
