Job Summary
Perform food safety and hygiene quality control duties to ensure compliance with food safety standards, support equipment maintenance, monitor pest control, and assist in investigations to maintain high-quality food safety management.
Responsibilities
- Implement food handling procedures to comply with food safety Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs) to ensure product safety.
- Collect, label, and store food samples accurately to maintain sample integrity for quality control.
- Enforce personal hygiene standards and ensure proper use and timely replacement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by staff during shifts.
- Verify staff uniforms are clean at the start of each shift to maintain hygiene standards.
- Monitor cleaning processes, ensuring appropriate chemicals and equipment are used and replenished timely to maintain sanitation.
- Oversee thorough cleaning of all equipment and locations by staff or external vendors to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist in monitoring pest activities and coordinate with pest control vendors for timely follow-up actions.
- Accompany pest control technicians during on-site services to identify and address points of concern.
- Ensure regular preventive maintenance, calibration, and verification of equipment by coordinating with maintenance technicians.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to PRPs and CCPs to comply with food safety management system requirements.
- Support food safety training programs as needed to enhance staff knowledge and compliance.
- Assist in investigating food safety incidents by gathering information and drafting reports to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to support overall food safety and hygiene objectives.
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma or ITE Certificate in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Working knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, or any Food Safety Management System.
- At least 1 year of relevant working experience; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Ability to perform basic statistical data collation to support quality control analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Positive attitude and a learning mindset to adapt and grow in the role.
