Job summary

V-SWIFT PTE. LTD. seeks a Laboratory Support Assistant to prepare and maintain nutrition and food science labs in a secondary school setting. You will assist teachers, manage supplies, and ensure clean, safe work environments.

The role requires a WSQ Food Safety Level 1 certification and at least 2 years of relevant lab experience, with strong English communication and basic computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare for practical lessons by organising ingredients, utensils, equipment and workstations.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions, distribute supplies and reset workstations between sessions.
• Prepare materials for assessments, including accurate allocations for each candidate.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food laboratories, handling waste disposal.
• Assist with purchases, manage stock, monitor expiry dates and flag replenishment needs.
• Ensure proper food handling and storage and minimize wastage.
• Maintain equipment readiness, report defects and coordinate servicing.
• Support departmental operations and keep accurate records within service hours.

Job description

Under the direction of the designated supervising officer or teachers, the personnel shall:

Responsibilities

1. Prepare for practical lessons: Prepare and portion ingredients, organise utensils and equipment, and set up workstations for lessons and demonstrations.
2. Support practical sessions: Assist teachers with distributing supplies, replenishing ingredients, retrieving equipment and resetting workstations between sessions.
3. Prepare for practical assessments: Prepare ingredients, equipment and materials for school assessments, coursework investigations and national practical assessments, including separate, complete and accurate allocations for each individual candidate.
4. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene: Carry out routine and scheduled cleaning of food laboratories, preparation and storage areas, utensils and appliances, including waste disposal.
5. Support purchasing and stock management: Assist with approved purchases and deliveries, maintain inventory records, monitor stock levels and expiry dates, and highlight replenishment needs.
6. Ensure proper food handling and storage: Handle and store ingredients hygienically, observe specified dietary requirements, monitor storage conditions and minimise food wastage.
7. Maintain equipment and laboratory readiness: Conduct basic equipment checks and care, report defects and hazards, coordinate servicing arrangements, and complete shutdown and security checks.
8. Support departmental operations: Assist with approved departmental activities, maintain operational records, coordinate requirements with teachers, and perform other related food laboratory support duties within the agreed service hours.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum GCE N Level or equivalent
