Job summary

Gain Employment Services Pte. Ltd. is seeking a School Kitchen Assistant to support the team in a Singapore school. You will prep ingredients, assist teachers during practical sessions, and help with inventory and safety.

Qualifications include a minimum of Primary 6, ability to converse and write in English, basic maths for calculating ingredients, and at least 1 year of experience in food preparation in a school, commercial, or training kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Be in the Teacher's Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours.
• Ordering of food ingredients before lesson.
• Preparation of ingredients before lessons, ensuring food is prepared and handled safely.
• Maintaining cleanliness of utensils, equipment and food laboratories areas.
• Handling inventory and stock taking of resources e.g. books, utensils and equipment.
• Assisting the teacher during practical session e.g. ensuring that students observe safety rules, guiding students in preparation skills.
• Administration - Checking and filing of invoices and keeping track of the cost of the ingredients.
• Any other duties relating to the food laboratories assigned by NFS teachers, SH/NFS, HOD/Craft and Technology and the School Leaders.

Job description

Contract Period: From 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027 with an option to extend the Contract for a further period of one (1) year.

Working hours

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7.30am to 4.30pm, inclusive of 30 mins lunch break
• Fridays: 7.30am to 1.30pm, no lunch break
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

Scope of Services

• Be in the Teacher's Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours
• Ordering of food ingredients before lesson
• Preparation of ingredients before lessons, ensuring food is prepared and handled safely

Qualifications, skills and experience

• Minimum qualification of Primary 6
• Able to converse andwrite in English
• Basic mathematicalskills e.g. able to calculate the amount of ingredients based on a given recipefor seven classes
• Good knowledge on foodingredients and food preparation. Preferably to have attained the Basic FoodHygiene Course
• Must have at least 1year experience working on food preparation in a commercial/school or training kitchen
• Previous working experience in a school-kitchen will be an added advantage
