Job summary

WSH Experts Pvt Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Food Laboratory Assistant to support classrooms and food labs during school hours, assist with ingredient preparation, and ensure safety rules are followed. You will manage inventory, handle invoices, keep utensils clean, and support teachers during practical sessions with emphasis on safe food handling and accurate ingredient calculations.

Experience in a school kitchen is a plus; Primary 6 is acceptable; English proficiency and basic math are

Qualifications

• Must have minimum qualification of Primary 6
• Able to converse and write in English
• Basic mathematics skills to calculate ingredients for seven classes
• Knowledge of food ingredients and preparation; Basic Food Hygiene course preferred
• At least 1 year experience in food preparation in a school/commercial kitchen
• Previous school-kitchen experience is an added advantage

Responsibilities

• Be in the Teacher’s Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours
• Order food ingredients before lessons
• Prepare ingredients before lessons and ensure safe handling of food
• Maintain cleanliness of utensils, equipment and laboratories
• Handle inventory and stock-taking of resources (books, utensils, equipment)
• Assist the teacher during practical sessions and guide students on preparation skills
• Check and file invoices and monitor ingredient costs
• Any other duties relating to the food laboratories assigned by NFS teachers, SH/NFS, HOD/Craft and Technology, and School Leaders

Food Laboratory Assistant

The Services required are set out as follows:

• Be in the Teacher’s Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours
• Ordering of food ingredients before lesson
• Preparation of ingredients before lessons, ensuring food is prepared and handled safely
• Maintaining cleanliness of utensils, equipment and food laboratories areas
• Handling inventory and stock taking of resources e.g. books, utensils and equipment
• Assisting the teacher during practical session e.g. ensuring that students observe safety rules, guiding students in preparation skills
• Administration – Checking and filing of invoices and keeping track of the cost of the ingredients
• Any other duties relating to the food laboratories assigned by NFS teachers, SH/NFS, HOD/Craft and Technology and the School Leaders.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Minimum qualification of Primary 6
• Able to converse and write in English
• Basic mathematical skills e.g. able to calculate the amount of ingredients based on a given recipe for seven classes
• Good knowledge on food ingredients and food preparation. Preferably to have attained the Basic Food Hygiene Course
• Must have at least 1 year experience working on food preparation in a commercial/school or training kitchen
• Previous working experience in a school-kitchen will be an added advantage
