Job summary

MINDEF is seeking a data analytics professional to drive the use of finance data to deliver insights and support smarter decision-making across the Finance domain. You will partner with business and technology teams to establish governance, develop analytics, and build capabilities for faster financial decisions.

You will develop dashboards and decision-support solutions to monitor performance, forecast trends, and improve forecasting accuracy, while translating complex data into actionable

Qualifications

• Competency in data analytics techniques, data visualisation and interpretation of analytical results
• Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, tools such as SAS, Qlik, R, Python and Power BI

What the role is:

You will drive the use of Finance data to deliver insights and support better decision-making across the Finance domain. Working with business and technology partners, you will establish data governance, develop advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions, and build data capabilities that enable smarter, faster financial decisions across Finance.

What you will be working on:

• Develop and implement data governance frameworks, standards and practices
• Develop dashboards, analytics and decision-support solutions to monitor performance, understand trends, improve forecasting and make better-informed decisions
• Use financial analysis, modelling and analytical techniques to identify trends, solve complex business problems
• Generate insights that support strategic planning and resource management
• Identify opportunities, shape requirements and translate business needs into scalable data and analytics solutions

Challenge(s): Solving complex analytics and business problems within resource, data and system constraints; Navigating across multiple stakeholders and systems to deliver practical, scalable solutions; Translating complex and sometimes imperfect data into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers; Balancing data quality, security, governance and accessibility while enabling innovation; Driving adoption and demonstrating tangible value from analytics initiatives, moving ideas from concept to implementation

What we are looking for:

• Education in Accountancy, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematical Science, or a related field is preferred
• A Master's degree in Data Science will be an added advantage
• Prior relevant experience in data analytics is preferred
• Competency in data analytics techniques, data visualisation and interpretation of analytical results
• Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, tools such as SAS, Qlik, R, Python and Power BI
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication and IT skills, with a team-player mindset
• Ability to see the big picture while also working comfortably through details (Applicants with no experience may apply.)
