Job summary

Careers @ Focal Search is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers, naval architects, designers and drafters in advanced aluminum shipbuilding projects in Singapore. The role oversees the technical design, weight control, inclining experiments and sea trial protocols while ensuring contractual compliance, safety and project success.

You will collaborate with senior management, coordinate with OEMs and classification societies, and drive design improvements in line with industry

Qualifications

• Formal training in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Track record of success in using Aluminum in shipbuilding.
• At least seven years as Naval Architect or Senior Design Engineer.
• At least five years in engineering design department management.
• Excellent dispute resolution and negotiating abilities.
• Solid understanding of flag regulations and classification society rules.

Responsibilities

• Managing a team that includes engineers, naval architects, designers and drafters.
• Offer technical and design expertise and schedule design deliverables.
• Ensure vessel designs meet all contractual requirements and specs.
• Oversee technical review for procurement of major equipment and materials.
• Supervise interactions with classification societies, flag states and regulatory bodies.
• Resolve technical issues with OEMs, clients, classification societies and flag states.
• Expertise in weight management and control throughout vessel construction.
• Engage in inclining experiments, lightship surveys and sea trial protocols.
