Job summary

FOCAL SEARCH PTE. LTD. seeks an experienced Naval Architect or Senior Design Engineer to lead a multi-disciplinary design team in Singapore. You will ensure designs meet contractual requirements and coordinate with classification societies and flag authorities.

You will manage weight control, inclining processes and collaborate with senior management to deliver high-quality ship designs, while upholding regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Formal training in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Proven track record using Aluminum in Shipbuilding.
• Minimum 7 years as Naval Architect or Senior Design Engineer.
• Minimum 5 years of design department management experience.
• Strong dispute resolution and negotiation abilities.
• Solid understanding of Flag Regulations and Classification Society Rules.
• Performance and results oriented with strong leadership.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of engineers, naval architects, designers and drafters.
• Provide technical and design expertise and oversight of design deliverables.
• Ensure vessel designs meet contractual requirements and specifications.
• Oversee technical review for procurement of major equipment and materials.
• Supervise interactions with classification societies and flag states.
• Resolve technical issues with OEMs, clients and regulators.
• Lead weight management and inclining experiments during construction.
• Collaborate with Senior Management, Engineering and GM.
• Follow and update company design guidelines and drive improvements.
