Senior/Staff Engineer – NAND Research & Development Dry Etch
As a Senior/Staff engineer, you will be a part of a revolutionary next‑generation NAND research & development dry etch team, driving critical modules listed below. Job Responsibilities
- Developing dry etch processes to meet the physical & electrical requirements of Micron’s products.
- Optimizing dry etch processes to reduce cost, process variability, and improve process capability.
- Collaborating with process integration and other process development teams to develop innovative new solutions.
- Conducting root cause and failure mode analysis to understand the limitations of current hardware and drive vendors for solutions.
- Performing fundamental research to drive innovative solutions for next‑generation products.
- Maintaining a technology development pilot manufacturing line.
- Supporting process transfer to production facilities (some domestic and/or international travel may be required).
Qualifications & Skills
- Demonstrate research and development aptitude in science and engineering fields.
- Examples of experimental design and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to use extensive technical knowledge to guide strategic directions.
- Ability to resolve complex issues through root‑cause or model‑based problem solving.
- Proficiency in statistics (preferred) and in statistical process control.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, and focus on meeting commitments.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
- Fundamental knowledge of at least one of the following: transport phenomena, dry etch processing, kinetic theory, statistical thermodynamics, or plasma physics.
- Data science basics / Python coding / GenAI programming is desirable.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
- Education: Master’s with minimum 2 years of relevant experience involving dry etch in semiconductor industry / PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Material Science, Physics, Chemical physics, Chemistry, Semiconductor engineering or relevant majors.
- Bachelor’s in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Material Science, Physics, Chemical Physics, Chemistry, Semiconductor engineering or relevant majors with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in dry etch process.
