Job summary

UP COMMUNICATIONS PTE LTD is seeking a DCN IP Network Engineer to own end-to-end incident resolution and collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex network issues. The role requires hands-on experience with Huawei devices and DCN technologies in a demanding environment.

You will engage in problem analysis, technical coordination, and preventive maintenance while ensuring safety, security, and adherence to SOPs.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of routing, switching, WLAN/LAN, STP, HSRP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of complex network problems with RCA experience.
  • Experience with VXLAN, Cisco ACI, VXLAN BGP eVPN, SDA, and SD-WAN is a plus.
  • Data Center network technologies knowledge and strong analytical skills.
  • Willingness to learn and think logically under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end resolution of DCN network incidents escalated from L1/L2.
  • Perform RCA to resolve chronic problems and security threats per ITIL.
  • Collaborate with infra tower teams to troubleshoot and isolate root causes.
  • Drive technical resolution with Huawei vendor support for hardware/software issues.
  • Lead troubleshooting during high-pressure P1/P2 incidents with emergency workarounds and fixes.
  • Coordinate technical calls with support teams to speed problem resolution.
  • Adhere to customer and Huawei policies for change management and SOPs.
  • Daily configuration, commissioning, and optimization of Huawei devices per requirements.
  • Perform proactive network health checks to identify bottlenecks and degradation.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance and report network health results.
  • Maintain professional customer relationships and provide proactive infrastructure advice.
  • Act as SME and collaborate with TDs on complex problem resolutions.
  • Demonstrate ability to work under high pressure to meet strict SLAs.

Job description

Key Responsibilities for DCN IP Network Engineer

1. Incident & Problem Management:

Own the end-to-end resolution of DCN network incidents escalated from L1/L2, performing root cause analysis (RCA) to resolve chronic problems and security threats, aligning with ITIL processes.

2. Infrastructure Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional infra tower teams to troubleshoot and isolate network-related root causes, ensuring rapid service restoration.

3. Vendor Management:

Drive technical resolution by managing network vendor support teams (Huawei) for hardware/software issues, troubleshooting, and patching.

4. Critical Incident Response:

Manage high-pressure, critical network incidents (P1/P2) by leading troubleshooting efforts, applying emergency workarounds, and implementing final fixes to minimize business impact.

5. Technical Coordination:

Drive technical conference calls with support teams to accelerate problem identification and resolution.

6. Communication & Autonomy:

Deliver clear, professional technical communication (verbal/written) and work independently on complex assignments.

7. Process Compliance:

Strictly adhere to Customer and Huawei policies regarding change management, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and security standards.

8. Huawei Configuration:

Perform daily configuration, commissioning, and optimization of Huawei data communication devices (Routers/Switches/Firewalls) based on customer requirements.

9. Network Insight & Optimization:

Perform proactive network analysis and health checks to identify potential capacity bottlenecks or performance degradation.

10. Preventive Maintenance (PM):

Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, monitor performance, and provide detailed reporting on network health check results and follow-up actions.

11. Customer Relationship Management:

Maintain a professional relationship with the customer, providing proactive technical advice on infrastructure improvements and potential risks.

12. Team Collaboration:

Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to provide technical guidance and collaborate with other TDs (Technical Directors/Teams) on complex problem resolutions.

13. High-Pressure Reliability:

Demonstrate the ability to work under high pressure with minimal supervision to meet strict SLAs (Service Level Agreements).

This role requires a Diploma/Bachelor’s in Engineering or Computer Science and in-depth knowledge of networking concepts (routing/switching, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP). Key requirements include hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex network issues, with preference for experience in VXLAN, Cisco ACI, SD-WAN, and Data Center technologies.

1. Requirements:
  • - Networking Fundamentals: In-depth understanding of Routing, Switching, WLAN/LAN/WAN, STP, HSRP, ARP, VLANs, Inter-VLAN Routing, OSPF, and BGP.
  • - Troubleshooting: Hands‑on experience in troubleshooting complex network problems, including root cause analysis and incident resolution.
  • - Advanced Technologies: Experience with advanced technologies such as VXLAN, Cisco ACI, VXLAN BGP eVPN, SDA, and SD‑WAN is a distinct advantage.
  • - Data Center Focus: Knowledge of Data Center network technologies.
  • - Soft Skills: Strong logical thinking, analytical skills, and a willingness to learn.
2. Education:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent IT field.

3. Preferred Qualifications:
  • - Cisco-based environments (Routers, Switches, WLCs).
  • - Network troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark).
  • - Network Security basics (Firewalls, VPNs).

Working Hours : Day (subjected to if there are any urgent cases at night)

Work Location : Office

Reporting Line (e.g., "Reports to Head of Network Team"): Report to Wireless IP network manager

Contract Period : 24 Months
