Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Data Centre Critical Facilities Engineer to monitor and triage critical data centre infrastructure within hyperscale and colocation environments. You will be the first response point for facilities events in a 24x7 operations team, coordinating with onsite engineers, vendors and site operations to ensure incidents are managed efficiently and uptime is maintained.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years' experience in Critical Facilities Operations or mission-critical environments.
• Experience monitoring BMS, DCIM, EPMS or similar platforms.
• Understanding of critical power and cooling infrastructure in data centres.
• Experience with incident management/ticketing systems (JIRA, ServiceNow).
• Experience coordinating incidents across onsite teams, vendors and external providers.
• Follow SOPs/MOPs/EOPs and operational runbooks.
• Excellent communication for fast-paced operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor critical facilities infrastructure using enterprise platforms (BMS, DCIM, EPMS).
• Respond to alarms across power, cooling, environmental, fire and life-safety systems.
• Investigate alerts, assess impact, determine escalation path.
• Act as first point of contact for critical facilities incidents.
• Coordinate with onsite engineers, vendors and site operations during incident resolution.
• Track alarms and events through ticketing systems and document actions.
• Produce shift handover reports and maintain operations documentation.
• Support planned maintenance and runbooks; participate in 24x7 shift patterns.
