Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Data Centre Technician to join a large-scale, mission-critical operation in Singapore. You will support day-to-day monitoring, incident response, and coordination across critical power, cooling, and environmental systems.

You will work with onsite engineers, facilities teams, vendors, and Smart Hands technicians to resolve incidents, maintain logs, and ensure operational continuity in a 24/7 rotating shift environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (BMS/DCIM/EPMS).
• Strong understanding of data centre power distribution and cooling systems.
• Experience handling infrastructure alarms and escalation procedures.
• Familiarity with incident management platforms (JIRA/ServiceNow).
• Ability to coordinate with engineers, vendors, and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day monitoring of data centre infrastructure via BMS, DCIM, EPMS, and other platforms.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate alarms related to power, cooling, environment, fire protection, and life safety systems.
• Perform initial assessments of incidents, evaluating severity and escalation procedures.
• Coordinate incident resolution with onsite engineers, facilities teams, vendors, and Smart Hands technicians.
• Monitor UPS, generators, ATS, PDUs, HVAC, CRAH/CRAC, and chilled water systems.
• Manage incidents from detection to resolution with accurate ticket updates and communication.
• Maintain incident records, alerts, and maintenance logs using JIRA and other tickets.
• Prepare shift handovers and operational reports to ensure cross-team continuity.
• Assist with planned maintenance per SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.
• Work in a 24/7 rotating shift environment for high-availability operations.

We are looking for a Data Centre Technician to join a large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure operation, supporting the day-to-day monitoring, incident response, and operational coordination of critical data centre systems. This opportunity offers exposure to some of the most advanced data centre environments, working across critical power, cooling, environmental monitoring, and facilities infrastructure.

About the Role

You will play a key role in ensuring infrastructure availability, identifying potential issues before they escalated, and working alongside onsite engineering teams to maintain operational continuity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day monitoring of critical data centre infrastructure through BMS, DCIM, EPMS, and other monitoring platforms.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate alarms relating to power distribution, cooling, environmental conditions, fire protection, and life safety systems.
• Perform initial assessments of infrastructure incidents, evaluating severity, potential impact, and appropriate escalation procedures.
• Work closely with onsite engineers, facilities teams, external vendors, and Smart Hands technicians to coordinate incident resolution.
• Monitor critical infrastructure including UPS, generators, battery systems, ATS, PDUs, HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, and chilled water systems.
• Manage operational incidents from initial detection through to resolution, ensuring accurate ticket updates and communication.
• Maintain incident records, infrastructure alerts, and maintenance logs using JIRA and other ticketing platforms.
• Prepare shift handovers, operational reports, and documentation to ensure continuity between teams.
• Assist with planned maintenance activities and operational changes in accordance with SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and established procedures.
• Work within a 24/7 rotating shift environment supporting high-availability data centre operations.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience using infrastructure monitoring tools such as BMS, DCIM, EPMS, or equivalent platforms.
• Good understanding of data centre power distribution, cooling infrastructure, and environmental monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with equipment such as UPS, generators, ATS, PDUs, HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, and chilled water systems.
• Experience handling infrastructure alarms, operational incidents, and escalation procedures.
• Working knowledge of incident management platforms such as JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar systems.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering teams, onsite technicians, vendors, and external service providers.
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures, emergency response processes, and technical runbooks.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and incident prioritisation skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24/7 shift-based operational environment.
