Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive business growth within the Consumer / Consumer Goods sector. The role will focus on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, managing tenders and commercial negotiations, and growing existing accounts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales and business development strategies to achieve revenue, profitability and growth targets.
- Identify, source and develop new customers and business opportunities within the Consumer / Consumer Goods sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Manage the full business development cycle, including tender management, commercial proposals, contract negotiations and solution development.
- Analyse customer requirements, logistics lanes, market rates and competitor offerings to develop competitive solutions.
- Work closely with internal operations and commercial teams to develop and implement 3PL / contract logistics solutions.
- Monitor customer profitability, revenue performance and overall account success.
- Prepare business plans, feasibility studies, sales forecasts and regular management reports.
- Identify potential commercial risks and develop appropriate measures to manage liabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement, network optimisation and commercial initiatives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the sales team and support the growth of the customer base.
- Stay updated on market trends, industry developments and competitor activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant sales / business development experience in logistics.
- Strong exposure to 3PL, contract logistics, freight forwarding, fulfilment and/or transportation.
- Proven track record in business development and customer acquisition.
- Experience in developing and implementing sales strategies and managing commercial tenders.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, pricing and commercial considerations.
- Good contract negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand revenue, profitability and market dynamics.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Working experience on the customer / end-user side may also be considered, particularly those with experience in Consumer, FMCG, Retail, E-commerce or related industries, and who have strong exposure to logistics, supply chain, 3PL management, tenders or logistics solution providers.
