Job Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented BIM Mechanical Engineer to manage end-to-end HVAC, piping, and mechanical services modeling within an Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) environment. In this role, you will be responsible for creating fully coordinated, clash-free 3D mechanical models, executing spatial planning, and driving high-quality prefabrication/DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) workflows from pre-contract tendering through to site execution.
Job Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling & Coordination: Develop, maintain, and review LOD 300 to LOD 500 mechanical BIM models (HVAC, chilled water, mechanical ventilation, fire protection) adhering to project BEP (BIM Execution Plan) and local authority standards.
- Spatial & Route Optimization: Perform multi-disciplinary clash detection, resolution, and spatial coordination(M&E services vs. structural/architectural elements) to achieve optimized, clash-free routes prior to fabrication.
- DfMA & Prefabrication Support: Detail modular MEP assemblies, modular risers, and skids; extract precise shop drawings, spools, and bill of quantities (BOQ) directly from the coordinated BIM model.
- Digital Workflows & Standards: Enforce BIM standards, naming conventions, and template setups. Participate in Model Coordination Meetings with main contractors, consultants, and trade sub-contractors.
- Site & As-Built Verification: Coordinate with site execution teams to reflect site changes into the working model, leading to accurate As-Built model submission and COBie/asset management data handover.
Key Qualifications& Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on BIM modeling and mechanical engineering coordination experience within commercial, industrial, or high-tech facility projects (e.g., cleanrooms, datacenters).
- Technical Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Mechanical/MEP), Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD.
- Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of HVAC design principles, airflow/chilled water pipe sizing, and mechanical equipment layouts.
- Collaboration Platforms: Experience with BIM Collaboration tools (e.g., BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, Solibri).
- Standards & Handover: Knowledge of ISO 19650 standards, COBie data structures, and IDD workflows is a strong advantage.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with Dynamo visual programming or Python scripting for Revit workflow automation.
- Proven track record in DfMA /prefabrication shop drawing extraction for heavy M&E contractors.
