Job summary

VY SYSTEMS PTE. LTD. seeks a BIM Design Engineer to develop coordinated BIM models for MEP, infrastructure and data centre projects.

You will bridge engineering and digital modelling to ensure accurate layouts, sizing and multidisciplinary coordination from design through construction. The role involves modeling in Revit/Navisworks, performing clash detection, producing submissions, and supporting project teams with shop drawings and RFIs.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical/electrical/building services or related discipline.
• Proficiency in BIM software (Revit/Navisworks/AutoCAD).
• Experience with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary workflows.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The BIM Design Engineer is responsible for developing coordinated engineering designs and BIM models to support MEP, infrastructure, and data centre projects. This role bridges technical engineering expertise with digital modelling, ensuring accurate system layouts, sizing, and coordination across multiple disciplines to support project delivery from design through construction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering Support

• Develop detailed BIM models for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems in accordance with project requirements and specifications.

• Perform basic engineering calculations, system sizing, and layout planning, including piping, cable routing, and equipment clearances.

• Support the design and development of systems such as liquid cooling, chilled water, power distribution, UPS, and auxiliary systems.

• Review design intent, technical drawings, and equipment datasheets.

2. BIM Modelling & Coordination

• Prepare and maintain coordinated BIM models using Revit or equivalent software throughout all project stages.

• Conduct clash detection and spatial coordination with internal teams and external consultants.

• Participate in coordination meetings and track design changes, comments, and resolutions.

• Ensure model accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project BIM standards.

3. Documentation & Deliverables

• Produce coordinated drawings, layouts, sections, schedules, and submission documents.

• Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and document records.

• Support the preparation of technical submissions, method statements, and as-built documentation.

4. Project & Stakeholder Support

• Liaise with project managers, site teams, consultants, and vendors to clarify technical requirements.

• Assist in resolving site queries and Requests for Information (RFIs) related to design and installation.

• Support site teams with shop drawing updates and coordination during construction.

5. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.

• Follow internal QA/QC procedures and BIM Execution Plans (BEP).

• Support continuous improvement initiatives for design standards and BIM workflows.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.

• Basic understanding of MEP systems, industrial systems, or data centre infrastructure.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering schematics.

• Familiarity with BIM coordination processes and multidisciplinary project workflows.

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience in BIM modelling or engineering support.

• Experience in data centres, industrial facilities, or large-scale commercial projects is an advantage.

• Exposure to construction projects or site coordination is preferred.
