Job summary

Sephora SEA is seeking a Software Engineer (User) to design and develop backend services for a scalable distributed system. You will contribute to a reliable, personalized experience for Sephora's 1.4 million monthly active users across Southeast Asia and Oceania via ecommerce platforms.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and work on high-visibility projects that directly impact customer lifetime value.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional experience building production-grade backend applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
Strong proficiency with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
Solid understanding of the Java ecosystem: Hibernate, JDBC, Maven, Gradle.
Familiarity with event streaming (Kafka) and/or message queuing (RabbitMQ).
Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
Familiarity with cloud environments like AWS or GCP.
Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as VueJS or NuxtJS is a strong plus.
