Job summary

Sephora SEAsia/NSEA is seeking a Software Engineer (User) to design and develop backend services and scalable distributed systems. You will help deliver reliable user experiences to Sephora’s 1.4 million monthly active users across Southeast Asia and Oceania via Ecommerce platforms.

You will collaborate on high-visibility projects that impact customer lifetime value, while integrating event-driven communications across microservices and enabling personalization for diverse regional audiences.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience building production-grade backend applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Strong proficiency with relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL/MySQL and MongoDB
• Solid understanding of the Java ecosystem: Hibernate, JDBC, Maven, and Gradle
• Familiarity with event streaming (Kafka) and/or message queuing systems (RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality
• Familiarity with structured AI-assisted development practices
• Familiarity working in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as VueJS or NuxtJS is a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services while building clean, scalable distributed systems
• Deliver reliable user experiences and loyalty features for Sephora’s SEAO ecommerce platform
• Work on high-visibility projects impacting customer lifetime value and retention
• Build and maintain event-driven integrations across microservices
• Deliver personalized and localized experiences for users across SEA and Oceania
