Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager – Operations to oversee passenger, cargo and ground support services within an aviation environment. You will lead operational teams, coordinate manpower and equipment, and ensure safe, efficient service delivery in line with customer requirements.
This role suits someone with strong operations planning and people management skills, preferably with experience in aviation, air force or fuel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Planning & Service Delivery
- Oversee daily passenger, cargo and ground support operations to meet service standards and customer requirements.
- Plan manpower deployment, operational schedules and resources to support routine activities and deployment exercises.
- Coordinate passenger ladder operations, airbase escort arrangements and material handling equipment deployment.
- Manage overseas deployment activities and ground support for foreign military aircraft.
- Review and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, including procedures for handling dangerous goods and hazardous materials.
Equipment & Facilities Management
- Oversee the serviceability of operational equipment, vehicles and facilities.
- Establish maintenance plans and coordinate the rectification of defects to minimise operational disruptions.
- Review equipment discrepancy reports and elevate issues affecting operational readiness.
- Maintain housekeeping standards across operational premises.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure operations comply with applicable safety, security, regulatory and site requirements.
- Review operational risks and implement measures to prevent incidents and business disruptions.
- Co-chair operations, deployment exercise and safety briefings.
- Coordinate external audits and follow through on corrective and preventive actions.
- Update teams on safety requirements and operational procedures.
Team & Resource Management
- Lead manpower planning, staff development, recruitment and retention efforts.
- Ensure employees hold the required training, certifications and security clearances before deployment.
- Prepare departmental capital and operating budget forecasts.
- Review purchase requisitions and operational claims within delegated approval limits.
- Define work scopes and resource requirements to support service delivery.
Requirements
- Diploma preferred, with relevant operations management experience.
- Prior experience in aviation, air force or fuel operations.
- Strong planning, coordination and people management skills.
- Able to manage operational priorities, resources and stakeholder expectations.
- Good understanding of operational safety, security and SOP compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Comfortable using digital applications and familiar with basic cybersecurity practices.
