Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Singapore seeks an experienced Director-level Infra Finance Credit Officer. The role focuses on independent credit assessment, approval and risk oversight of large, complex infrastructure transactions across the Asia Pacific region.

You will manage financial modelling, credit structuring and risk mitigation while engaging senior stakeholders and front-office units to ensure adherence to risk appetite and policy standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of infra finance / credit risk management experience.
• Proven track record in complex project financings and related structures.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.

Responsibilities

• Independently assess and challenge financing proposals across infra transactions.
• Review project, holding, portfolio and acquisition financings and structures.
• Evaluate sponsor support, concession frameworks, and security packages.
• Analyse cash flows, projections, downside scenarios and refinancing options.
• Identify key credit and structural risks with mitigants.
• Formulate independent credit recommendations for approvals by authorities.
• Engage with front office on structuring, terms and risk measures.
• Participate in early-stage discussions to align with policy and strategy.
• Approve transactions within delegated authority or advise higher authorities.
• Monitor assigned portfolio and conduct annual reviews and risk analytics.
