Job summary

big - foot logistic pte ltd is seeking a senior operations and business development leader to oversee all air freight activities, including import/export, transshipment, and cross-dock operations. You will ensure flawless MAWB/HAWB documentation and strict compliance with international standards.

You will drive P&L ownership, supplier negotiations, and new business development while mentoring a growing team of air operations and documentation specialists.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in air freight operations and business development within global freight forwarding or logistics providers.
• In-depth knowledge of MAWB/HAWB execution, consolidation, rate builds, chargeables, INCOTERMS 2020, and customs systems.
• Demonstrated ability to bring in new business, build commercial pipelines, and leverage existing network relationships.
• Proven track record in recruiting, training, and managing operational and sales support teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end air freight operations (import, export, transshipment, cross-dock, express cargo).
• Master MAWB/HAWB creation, execution, and consolidation while ensuring compliance with customs and airline requirements.
• Maintain compliance with IATA DGR, RCAR, Traceability/Customs Regulations, and ISO/AEO/TAPA security standards.
• Lead carrier negotiations (block space, spot rates, allocations) to maximize margin and space availability.
• Develop and own Air Freight P&L; drive revenue growth and cost optimization.
• Onboard new customers (import/export shippers) and cross-sell with Sea freight and warehousing teams.
• Design workflows, SOPs, and KPIs; recruit and mentor air operations and documentation staff.

Job description

1. Operations Management & Regulatory Compliance

• End-to-End Execution: Oversee complete air freight operations (import, export, transshipment, cross-dock, and express cargo).


• AWB & Documentation: Master all Air Waybill (Master AWB / House AWB) creation, execution, and consolidation procedures, ensuring error-free documentation and compliance with local/international customs and airline requirements.


• Compliance & Certifications: Maintain full compliance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), Regulated Air Cargo Agent Regime (RCAR), Traceability/Customs Regulations, and ISO/AEO/TAPA security standards.


• Procurement & Capacity: Lead carrier negotiations (block space agreements, spot rates, allocations) with commercial airlines and freighter operators to maximize margin and space availability.

2. Business Development & Revenue Growth

• P&L Responsibility: Develop and own the Air Freight P&L, driving revenue growth, gross margin expansion, and cost optimization.


• Client Acquisition: Leverage active industry network and market relationships to onboard new customers and import/export shippers.


• Sales Execution: Prospect, pitch, and close high-value air freight accounts across targeted verticals (e.g., e-commerce, pharma, high-tech, perishable goods, industrial).


• Cross-Selling: Collaborate with existing Sea freight, warehousing, and contract logistics teams to cross-sell integrated logistics solutions.

3. Team Building & Department Setup

• Organizational Design: Design workflows, SOPs, and departmental KPIs from the ground up or restructure existing frameworks for scale.


• Recruitment & Mentorship: Hire, train, and retain top talent across air operations, customer service, and air export/import documentation specialists.


• Performance Management: Set clear daily, operational, and financial targets for the team, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Departmental Revenue & Gross Margin Growth against quarterly targets


• New Customer Acquisition and Volume Growth (Chargeable Weight / Tons)


• On-time performance, customs compliance rate, and operational accuracy (zero DGR/AWB errors)
