Job summary

ORIENTAL ENERGY (SINGAPORE) INTERNATIONAL TRADING PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting for commodity trading and shipping entities, including AR/AP and reconciliations.

The role entails up to date ledger maintenance, month‑end closing, and financial reporting for management review. The ideal candidate holds a Diploma/ Degree in Accounting with at least 3 years of relevant experience, plus knowledge of GST, withholding tax, and audits.

Qualifications

• Handle day‑to‑day accounting operations for commodity trading and shipping entities.
• Prepare full sets of accounts, including general ledger, journal entries, accruals and month‑end closing.
• Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review.
• Assist with GST returns, withholding tax filings and audit matters.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper accounting records and documentation.
• Support improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
• Perform other ad hoc finance and accounting duties as assigned.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Handle day-to-day accounting operations for commodity trading and shipping entities, including bank transactions, accounts receivable(AR), accounts payable (AP) and reconciliations.
  • Handle full sets of accounts for assigned entities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, accruals and month-end closing.
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions.
• Tax & Statutory Compliance
  • Prepare GST returns and withholding tax filings.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax agents on audit and tax matters.
  • Assist with statutory compliance and year-end audit requirements.
• Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain proper accounting records and documentation.
  • Support improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Perform other ad hoc finance and accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a related discipline.
• Preferably at least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, with experience in shipping, maritime or commodity trading industries being an advantage.
• Able to handle full sets of accounts with minimal supervision.
• Basic knowledge of Singapore GST, withholding tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin to converse with stakeholders
• Detail-oriented, responsible and willing to learn.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
