Job summary

Woodlands Ring Secondary School invites applications for a student welfare role to support discipline, safeguarding and Gear‑Up activities for 2027–2028. The contract runs 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027, with an option period 2028.

Responsibilities

• Monitor attendance and latecoming among Gear‑Up students.
• Patrol the school compound and surrounding neighbourhood to support student safety; identify at‑risk students and promptly flag concerns to school staff.
• Support and oversee programmes for at‑risk students, and accompany staff on home visits to engage students and families.
• Assist with smoking and vaping cessation efforts.
• Support daily discipline duties and address student conduct constructively and supportively.
• Maintain records of student interactions and incidents, and provide administrative support for Gear‑Up activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the school.

Personnel hours

• Mondays to Fridays: 9:00am to 6:00pm, inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break.
• Exact working hours will be confirmed by the school upon contract award.
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.

Requirements

• At least four years of relevant work experience in a secondary school, preferably in student management, discipline or pastoral care.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English to communicate with students, staff and parents; good note‑taking and documentation skills.
• Ability to engage students, monitor their well‑being and follow up on interventions and activities.
• Empathy and strong interpersonal skills when working with youths.
• A firm, composed and professional approach to student behaviour, with sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
