Job summary

Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) seeks a School Kitchen Assistant to maintain cleanliness of the food preparation areas and assist teachers in practical food lessons. The role includes helping with weekly orders, checking deliveries, and maintaining inventory and records.

The ideal candidate has at least three years’ experience in food preparation, understands hygiene standards, and communicates in English with staff and students. This is a daytime on-site position with school hours.

Qualifications

• Completed primary school education.
• At least three years of relevant experience in food preparation and hygiene standards.
• Ability to speak, read and write English; basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily cleanliness of the Food and Consumer Education Rooms and Preparation Room.
• Assist teachers with weekly orders for food ingredients, materials and cleaning supplies; check and account for deliveries.
• Prepare materials for weekly food practical and theory lessons.
• Assist teachers in supervising student safety and discipline, and check laboratory safety after each lesson.
• Check inventory each term, report items requiring replacement, and maintain accurate records of culinary stores and books.
• Support food-related school activities.

Name of Authority: Chung Cheng High School (Yishun)

Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 29 October 2027.

Option period: A further 10 months, exercisable in whole or in parts

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mon­days to Thursdays: approximately 7:30am to 2:30pm; Fridays: approximately 7:30am to 12:30pm, inclusive of a one-hour lunch break where applicable.
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, school holidays and gazetted public holidays.
• Ad hoc service during school holidays may be required, but is unlikely to exceed 10 hours in total.
