Job summary

Lovable in Stockholm is seeking a Senior Payroll Lead to own and shape payroll strategy as we explore bringing payroll in-house or a hybrid model. You will build an automated, auditable payroll operation and guide the build-versus-buy decisions, starting in Sweden and potentially scaling globally.

The role requires expert Swedish payroll knowledge, 8+ years of payroll experience, and a demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-moving AI-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Expert Swedish payroll knowledge: Skatteverket reporting, employer contributions, taxes and pensions.
• 8+ years of payroll experience, senior-manager level.
• A proven track record owning payroll and shaping operating models.
• Strong ability to work independently in a greenfield remit.

Responsibilities

• Shape and own how payroll is delivered (outsourced, in-house, or mix).
• Build payroll into a tightly automated operation with strong controls.
• Own payroll accounting: journals, accruals, reconciliations, month-end close.
• Drive automation to reduce recurring manual work.
• Own payroll taxes and compliance: employer contributions, PAYE, social security, year-end reporting.
• Maintain an auditable payroll trail and support external audits.
• Grow into Global Payroll Lead as the business scales.
