Job summary

Allgon is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Developer to join our Gothenburg embedded software team. You will help design scalable, maintainable software and collaborate across projects, reporting to the R&D Embedded Manager.

Your role covers requirements management, architectural best practices, and mentoring junior developers, with focus on fast decision-making and high-quality code in a global industrial environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded software development with requirements management and architectural design.
• Familiarity with C programming and related toolchains.
• Experience with software development methodologies and structured processes.
• Knowledge of wireless technologies/protocols; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Represent embedded software in project core teams and act as a technical expert.
• Lead development of specifications, design and implementation of software solutions.
• Provide accurate time and resource estimations for software development.
• Ensure adherence to software architecture and design standards.
• Lead development tasks and mentor junior developers.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Developer to join our embedded software development team. As a key member of our team, you will be partly responsible for ensuring that our software is designed for scalability, maintainability, and efficiency, enabling multiple teams to work seamlessly on development. This is a strategic and hands-on role, involving direct software development, requirements management, and architectural best practices. The role is based in the head office in Gothenburg and reports to the R&D Embedded Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the development of specifications, design, and implementation of software solutions.
• Provide accurate time and resource estimations for software development.
• Ensure adherence to software architecture and design standards.
• Lead development tasks and mentoring junior developers.
• Collaborate with product managers, project managers, and other engineers to align software solutions with business needs.
• Analyze and define technical requirements, considering cost, performance, usability, and customer needs.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a highly skilled embedded software developer who thrives in a collaborative and technical environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about software architecture and has a strong ability to develop scalable and maintainable embedded software solutions. This role requires strong organizational skills with a focus on quality and attention to detail. The candidate should have a customer-focused mindset with the ability to translate requirements into technical solutions. Additionally, we seek someone who is self-driven and responsible, capable of working independently while leading technical discussions.

Key qualifications include

• University degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field, or extensive hands-on experience in software engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, including requirement management, architectural design, testing, and automation. Preferably used to C-programming.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies and structured processes.
• Experience of wirelesses technologies and protocols.
• Basic knowledge of electronics with the ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for technical details.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal) and preferably also Swedish.
